Helping out at the Dolly and Me pageant

Two the Miss St Joseph/Midland Empire little miss titleholders also helped out at the pageant, second from left is Paige, then Trinity. Hope to see them at Misses of Missouri!

Royal Princess kicked off summer with a Dolly and Me/Firecracker pageant June 24. I helped with some judging, tabulation and presenting awards. Thirty one boys and girls participated. The competed in formal wear and outfit of choice, which was dressing like their dolls or patriotic wear.

Volunteer at Squaw Creek

I went to the Environmental Education Expo over the weekend and talked to the folks representing Squaw Creek and Friends of Squaw Creek. They were looking for volunteers, so of course I signed up. They only ask that volunteers volunteer one day a year, and that doesn't mean a full day, so you don't get burned out. Lot's of things you can do, too. And any age is OK!

I told them I would put some info on my blog about it, hope you can go and volunteer some time. And if you have never been, it's a great place to see all kids of habitat. They have everything but a salt water habitat.

Here is the info on volunteering. We talked about how volunteering lets you explore lots of potential careers, and how much you can learn. You might be bird counting, tagging butterflies, building trails, or even handling other critters.

State

I am finally getting some photos from state on here, our internet has been sketchy lately. I am having to upload one photo at a time!

I was honored to place in the Top Ten at Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen. I made so many new friends and memories that will stay close to my heart forever. Thank you to the Heartland Board for preparing me for state! You couldn't have done a better job. Another thanks to the many people who have mock interviewed me; that helped so much!

Radioathon for Camp Quality

Monday, June 4th, as I made my way to Mexico, Missouri for Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen, I stopped and talked live on air over the local radio station during their radioathon. The radioathon was to raise funds for Camp Quality, a camp for kids with cancer that provides year round support for the kids and their families. I challenged all teens in the area to donate what they would pay to go see a movie, so about 7 or 8 dollars. It's take 1,500 dollars per kid to pay for all the kids' needs. You can donate online at kjo1055.com

NorthEnd Festival Parade

This morning I participated in the NorthEnd Festival Parade. The entry fees for the parade go to scholarships for Lafayette High School. The parade was good practice for the Miss Missouri Parade in Mexico, Mo! Throwing candy and looking lady like is harder than it looks! ;-) It always touches my heart when children wave and say, "Look at the princess!" Then I wave back and they get all shy.

Opening Night at The Mustangs!

Friday, June 1st, I met up with Seanica Reineke, Miss St. Joseph and Darbi Fuhrman, Miss Mark Twain, for opening night at the Mustangs, the local MINK team. We were introduced to the crowd during opening ceremonies, were they sent us off to state with best wishes. It was a great feeling to have over 2,000 people wishing us good luck at state! I then got to sing the national anthem to start off the game. The Mustangs won the game 3-2 after playing for 13 innings.

T-Shirt Collection

Here is a picture of all the t-shirts
I think that it is safe to say that I won't be getting any more t-shirts before I head to Miss Missouri's Outstanding Teen in Mexico, Missouri. Ok, so you're probably like, "What is she talking about?" Well, as Miss Heartland's Outstanding Teen, I realized that I was receiving a TON of t-shirts from volunteering or running 5Ks, or whatever the case may be. The end amount of t-shirts is right at 20. I love sporting the t-shirts when I go running, and I am SUPER excited to get to wear some of my t-shirts to the rehearsals at MMOT.
